We Love Abilene Programs

Financial Assistance

  • The Well Abilene believes that Jesus calls the church to aid and support those in need. Because of this, We Love Abilene aims to serve our community in a way that is loving and fair for all. We believe that this is possible through the stewardship of our finances, which are gracious gifts that we have received from our church family. We consider it a privilege to be able to serve Abilene and pray that God is glorified in all things.

  • Your generosity makes a difference! By donating to We Love Abilene’s Benevolence Fund, you help us provide aid to those in need within our community. Click here to give and support our mission to serve Abilene with love and compassion.

Family Care

  • The Family Care Program is dedicated to supporting single parents in our community. This program partners with landlords within our church to house single parents, while providing case management and rental subsidy to help families gain financial independence while offering practical resources and spiritual mentorship. Through financial literacy education, monthly check-ins, and mentorship, we aim to meet both the material and spiritual needs of participants, empowering them to build stable, healthy lives for their families.

    • Mentors: We are seeking church members who are willing to provide Gospel-centered encouragement and guidance to participants. Mentorship plays a crucial role in helping single parents grow spiritually while navigating the challenges of life. Mentors will be required to pass a background check, attend a short one-on-one training with WLA staff and meet with their participant at least monthly over the course of the year they participate in our program.

    • Welcome Basket Items: As part of welcoming new participants into the program, we are collecting items such as household supplies, toiletries, cleaning products, and personal care items to help single parents feel supported from day one.

  • If you are a landlord interested in partnering with this program or would like to volunteer to mentor and support single parents in our community, we'd love to hear from you. Email us at wla@thewellabilene.com.

  • To be eligible for We Love Abilene’s Family Care Program, you must:

    • Be a single parent.

    • Be able to commit to the employment or education requirement of 26 hours per week.

    • Demonstrate financial need for housing assistance.

    • Be willing to attend financial literacy classes, monthly check-ins, and participate in the program’s savings plan.

    • Be open to mentorship, spiritual guidance, and personal growth.

If you meet all requirements listed above, please fill out and email the Family Care Program Application to wla@thewellabilene.com.

Foster Care/Adoption Support

  • Wraparound Teams offer support to foster families by providing practical, emotional, and spiritual care. Church members come alongside foster parents with help such as childcare, meals, prayer, and encouragement. This network of support ensures foster families have the resources they need to thrive, while fostering a community of care and love for the children in their care.

  • We Love Abilene offers a support group for foster, kinship, and adoptive parents on the third Sunday of each month at 9:40 AM in the conference room. This time of fellowship includes encouraging one another, praying over unique needs, and sharing applicable resources. Childcare is available through The Well’s Kids Ministry.

  • We Love Abilene offers a support group for biological siblings of foster and adoptive families on the third Sunday of each month at 9:40 AM. The goal of this group is to provide a safe space of community for siblings to process and navigate the complexities of the foster care and adoption systems within their home.

  • If you are in need of support, interested in volunteering with a wraparound team, or interested in taking next steps in the foster or adoption process, please email us at wla@thewellabilene.com.

Teen Mom Baby Showers

  • Each month, We Love Abilene volunteers come together to celebrate local teen mothers and their babies, offering love, support, and encouragement. Our mission is to provide practical resources while also offering emotional and spiritual care from within our church community. Through this outreach, we seek to empower and uplift these young families, reflecting Christ’s love and compassion.

    • Amazon Wishlist: Our team has created an Amazon wishlist of practical necessities that are donated at each of our baby showers. Your donations ensure that we can offer tangible support through postpartum care kits, clothing, bath necessities, and more. We invite you to partner with us by selecting items from our wishlist and making a difference in the lives of these families.

    • Shower Volunteers: We’re always looking for volunteers to help shower, celebrate, and support these amazing moms. Baby showers typically take place on Sundays at 2:00 PM, and we ask volunteers to arrive by 1:00 PM and stay for the duration of the event. Your presence and support make a lasting impact in the lives of young parents in our community. Please fill out this form for more information.

  • If you are or know a mother who needs support, please email wla@thewellabilene.com for more information. An application is required. Mothers must be 18 or under.

Safe at Home

  • The Safe at Home Team is designed to pair volunteers with neighbors in need of assistance with small household tasks and routine maintenance. This may include changing light bulbs, air filters or smoke detector batteries, and taking out trash. Our hope for this team is to prevent injury and possible hospitalization of individuals in our community.

  • Volunteers for the Safe at Home team should be 18 or older and have a basic understanding of household tasks and maintenance. If you are interested in volunteering or want to learn more about the Safe at Home team, please fill out this form.

  • If you are or know an individual who needs support, please email wla@thewellabilene.com for more information.

Prayer Teams

  • We Love Abilene provides financial assistance to families and individuals experiencing crisis in our community. As part of our intake process, we offer the opportunity to take prayer requests as many are walking through difficult situations. Join us as we pray over these requests and offer notes of encouragement to our neighbors!

  • The We Love Abilene Men's Prayer Team meets at Front Porch (N 2nd St) at 6:30 AM on the second Thursday of every month.

  • The We Love Abilene Women's Prayer Team meets on the second Sunday of every month during The Well’s 9:40 AM service.
